First Visit – Oral Surgery Consultation
Your initial appointment will consist of an examination and consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
Please Bring To Your First Visit:
- Your surgical referral slip and any X-rays if applicable.
- A list of medications you are currently taking.
- Medical or dental insurance cards and photo ID.
Important Pre-Anesthesia Rule
Nothing to eat or drink (including water) for 8 hours prior to surgery under IV sedation. An adult must accompany the patient and remain in the office during the procedure.

Before Anesthesia
No food or drink 8 hours before IV sedation. Wear loose comfortable clothing and short sleeves. No smoking 12 hours prior to surgery.
After Dental Implant Surgery
Do not disturb the wound. Avoid touching or rinsing vigorously. Take prescribed antibiotics as directed and stick to soft non-chew foods.
After Wisdom Teeth Removal
Keep gauze pad in place with firm bite pressure for 30-60 mins. Apply ice packs for 24 hours. Avoid straws for 3 days to prevent dry socket.
After Tooth Extractions
Controlled bleeding with gauze or tea bag bite. Begin warm saltwater rinses the day after surgery 3x daily.
Sinus Precautions
Do not blow your nose or sneeze with mouth closed for 2 weeks after upper sinus lifts or bone grafting near sinus cavities.
